Greasy Kitchen Ventilation Fan Cleaning Detergents in Japan

Konnichiwa, my lovely readers! Today I’m going to share with you some of the kitchen ventilation fan cleaning detergents that are available in Japan. Cleaning the kitchen ventilation fan is one of the household chores I hate to do. It’s messy, greasy, and smelly.

It’s very important to clean your kitchen ventilation fan regularly. Why? Because the accumulated grease and oil are fire hazards. It can also be a breeding ground for bacteria which might even cause food poisoning especially since it is very near to the place where we prepare and cook our food.

So how often should we clean it? Well, it depends on our cooking activities and how frequently we cook. Probably, if you use oil a lot, you should check it at least once a month to see the situation and decide if it’s time to clean it. There are also filters available in the Japanese market to prolong the cleanliness of our ventilation fans.

There are a lot of detergents that are available here in Japan. Here is the list:

Oxiclean

This is one of my favorite multi-purpose cleaning detergents. It is an oxygen bleach and does not contain chlorine or surfactants. To clean ventilation fans with this, all you have to do is dissolve the powder at 40 to 60 degrees Celsius of water and soak the fan. Leave it for a while.

Kao Magic Rin Handy Spray

This is the cleaner I used most of the time to remove the small oil stains. Just spray it on the stain and leave it for more than 5 minutes and wipe it or rinse it. And please spray it in a well-ventilated place because the smell is strong. It always makes me dizzy.

Ultra Hard Cleaner for Grease Removal

It has a double formulation of a super strong alkaline agent called sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide Thoroughly removes intense oil stains. Aside from kitchen ventilation fans, it is also OK to use on gas stoves and grills.

Kazuya Mogi Namahage Detergent for Oil Stains

Namahage is a powerful oil stain remover developed by the detergent expert Kazuya Mogi, who is often featured in TV and magazines. It is effective against kitchen oil stains such as ventilation fans, stoves, ovens, walls, and floors around the stove. But avoid using it on painted surfaces.
