Ichiran Ramen is my most favorite ramen shop and forever will be. The first time I ate here, I already know that I will always yearn for the taste of their perfect classic tonkotsu ramen. This place is also perfect for introverts like me who doesn’t want to communicate much and want a privacy while eating.
The Ichiran Ramen shop that we visited is their branch near the Shibuya Station which is the branch we always go to. It is located at the basement so you have to take the stairs down but the stairs going down is narrow and steep so please watch your step.
How to Order?
You will order through a vending machine. This is perfect to those people like me who is an introvert who doesn’t want to speak much because there is no need to communicate with a staff to order your food. To order, first you have to feed money to the machine.
Next, you will choose the foods that you want. I only chose the Ichiran classic tonkotsu ramen today which costs ￥980 with the tax already included on the price. It is a little expensive than the other ramen shops but the quality of the taste will explain it all. You can also add on later if you want.
These are the other items on their menu. You can add more toppings and ramen. They also have smoke-flavored stewed pork and rice. There is also a dessert, beer, and tea available. You can also order a ramen set that you can cook at home and their special powder.
This is the ticket that the vending machine ejected. You will have to give it to the staff when you are already seated at the counter.
There weren’t a lot of customers the day we went but still the waiting time is long. I think we spent about 15 minutes waiting but it will be more if there were a lot of people.
The Order Sheet for your Ichiran Tonkotsu Ramen
While waiting you can choose your combinations so that they could adjust the taste according to your liking. I like mine extra rich and a little spicy.
I was not able to take a photo of the seats but you’ll be able to have a privacy in this little ramen shop. Each seat have compartments so you can enjoy your ramen without you being disturbed by other customers. Also, if you are coming in a group, you might have to be seated apart since the place is not big.
There is a drinking water spout in every compartment so no need to ask a staff for it. On the side, there are papers where you can also use if you have something to say to staff and you don’t want to talk.
Just by the smell and look of it, I already know that this is delicious. The red part on the middle is their special red sauce which adds spiciness to it. You can also choose not to have it.
The classic tonkotsu ramen of Ichiran Ramen is really the best among all the ramen that I’ve tried. Since I am the one who decided on how rich it will be, the taste was perfect to my liking. The quality is also the best.
If you are planning a trip to Japan or if you are already in Japan but haven’t tried Ichiran yet, you probably should try this and I’m sure that you’ll always be back.
