Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract

According to,
“Melaleuca alternifolia, commonly known as tea tree oil, is highly regarded as an essential oil and is used in skincare for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. It is a popular ingredient in cosmetic products including face wash, shampoos, skin and nail creams, and massage oils.

Tea tree oil contains strong antibacterial and antifungal compounds that are known to reduce inflammation and acne. A study conducted by the Department of Dermatology at Australia’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital compared the effectiveness of tea tree oil to benzoyl peroxide (a common acne medication) and found that 5% of both substances had the same significant effect in reducing the patients’ acne. A study by the Skin Diseases and Leishmaniasis Research Center at Iran’s Isfahan University of Medical Sciences also found that tea tree oil was effective in treating mild to moderate acne. The results showed a significant difference between those who were given tea tree oil versus patients in the placebo group. The tree tea oil was 5.8 times more effective in reducing overall acne severity.

Psoriasis is the red, scaly and inflamed areas of the skin. It occurs when dead skin cells build up on the skin’s surface, forming thick silvery scales, or dry and red patches that itch and irritate the skin. Tea tree oil’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties help to reduce the discomfort and quicken the healing process. They prevent the overproduction of skin cells while the terpinen 4 in the oil penetrates deep into the skin layers to dissipate the psoriasis scars.
